The challenge was to create a museum that represented the diversity of Maharashtra’s tribal communities while moving beyond static displays and archival storytelling. The vision demanded an experience that could authentically capture living traditions, oral histories, artistic practices, and belief systems while making them accessible and engaging for contemporary audiences. Equally important was ensuring that tribal communities were not merely exhibited but empowered as active storytellers of their own culture.
Lokusdesign approached GTM as a living narrative environment, designing a visitor journey that reflects the interconnected nature of tribal life, culture, and identity. Through thematic galleries, recreated village environments, performance spaces, immersive storytelling zones, interactive technology, and multi-sensory installations, visitors experience tribal traditions through participation rather than observation. Authentic content was developed in close collaboration with tribal scholars, artists, and community elders, ensuring cultural integrity across every layer of the experience.
Complementing the museum experience, Lokusdesign developed a comprehensive brand identity and communication system inspired by tribal art, symbolism, and storytelling traditions. The result is a pioneering cultural destination that celebrates tribal heritage with dignity and authenticity while establishing a new benchmark for immersive, community-led museum experiences in India. GTM positions Nagpur as a significant centre for tribal culture, education, and cultural exchange.
